In writing the book,
author Kim McCarrel drew on her extensive experience on
Central Oregon's equestrian trails. She says, "For
years my friends and I lamented the lack of a guidebook
to Central Oregon's riding trails. We talked about how much
easier it would be to plan our trail rides if we knew in
advance how long a given trail was, the distance to the
trailhead, what the terrain was like, and the sights we
would see. Riding Central Oregon Horse Trails grew
out of those conversations."
The book features over 1,000 miles
of horse trails in Central Oregon, including high country rides
with spectacular scenery, low elevation trails suitable for winter
riding, trails for novice riders or green horses, and many loop
trails.
